MACE gets threatened with legal action…
LAST MONTH saw our first ever MACE show. It was a huge success. Totally sold-out! A packed-out show with a feel-good atmosphere. All the acts did a fantastic job. Including GEIN’S FAMILY GIFT SHOP and PHIL ELLIS whom you can both vote for in this year’s Chortle Comedy Awards. VOTE NOW!
BAD NEWS! We were recently threatened with legal action by a producer of Comedy Central’s ‘The Alternative Comedy Experience‘. It was suggested that MACE (which stands for Manchester’s Alternative Comedy Experience) was trading off their name. This was something we never intended. MACE’s branding in no way suggests an affiliation with the TV series.
IT’S HAPPENED BEFORE! A comedy night in St. Helens was forced to change its name after legal threats from a comedy club in USA.

MACE prides itself on being like no other. Therefore, as a gesture of good-will (and to avoid being taken to court by people who have more money than us) we have decided to alter MACE’s name slightly.
DON’T WORRY! It’s still MACE. However, MACE now stands for Manchester’s Alternative Comedy Emporium. Don’t be fooled! We’re still dedicated to delivering top-quality stand-up comedy. Say hello to UK’s newest and nicest alternative comedy club. Pop down in 2 weeks time and see what all the fuss is about. Long live MACE!
